Recipe:
This foamy and spicy drink tastes just like a classic chai latte yet contains no added sugar and is naturally sweetened with dates. You can whip up a simple chai latte using chai tea bags or make your own chai spice if you don’t have any chai tea.
Ginger is loaded with antioxidants and may help with digestion and relieve nausea. Cinnamon also has high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to help protect against disease.
Ingredients:
2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
6 dates
2 chai tea bags OR 2 black tea bags and
1 teaspoon ground ginger,
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon,
1⁄2 teaspoon ground cloves,
1⁄4 teaspoon ground cardamom, and
1⁄8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
In a blender, add milk and dates and blend until no clumps of dates remain.
In a small pot, bring 1⁄2 cup water to a boil and add in tea bags.
If using chai tea bags, add date milk to the pot, remove tea bags, heat over medium heat for another minute, and divide between two mugs.
If using black tea bags, add date milk to the pot, remove tea bags, and heat over medium heat for another minute. Whisk in ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and black pepper. Remove from heat and pour into two mugs. Top with additional cinnamon if desired.
