Recipe:
This drink is an interesting new spin on classic lemonade. Limes replace lemons, and they pair perfectly with strawberries and basil. The result is a sweet, tangy, fruity, and slightly herbal pink-colored limeade. Strawberries and limes are both great sources of vitamin C, which is important for skin health and immune function.
Ingredients:
3⁄4 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
1⁄4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
1⁄2 cup agave nectar or honey
1⁄2 cup lime juice
3 1⁄2 cups water
Ice
Instructions:
In a small pot, combine strawberries, basil, agave, and 1⁄2 cup water. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook for 5-10 minutes, crushing up the strawberries as they cook. Let the mixture cool and then strain into a pitcher. Add lime juice, water, and ice. If desired, add more lime slices, strawberry slices, and fresh basil to the limeade.
